How many websites have you visited that ask for your email address? Maybe you found the page by clicking on another page’s link like this:
The page asking for your email address promises you something of value in exchange for you providing your email. Maybe an e-book, or an informational video, or a free report.
Whatever they gave you, they now have your contact information. Then you probably received more material in the days, weeks and months after. Some of the material was valuable, and some of it was sales pitches.
Know why this kind of marketing is all over the Internet? Two words: It. Works.
Follow My Lead
Those pages that ask for your contact information are called lead pages. Lead pages are pages built to give someone something of value in exchange for their contact information. Here is an example of one for Preston Ely’s FreedomSoft software.
Since every real estate investor loves to find leads, maybe it’s worth looking into landing pages? They can really help your business find leads. Both on the buyer and seller side.
Landing pages are a great way to increase your buyer’s list if you are a wholesaler. Or maybe you want to help a buyer as a private money lender? Wouldn’t potential buyers or borrowers want to learn more about evaluating deals, rehabbing tips and techniques, how to achieve the lowest interest rate on borrowed funds… or a host of other topics?
On the motivated seller side, people in trouble want to learn how to get out of trouble. Or, what the process is for selling their house fast – for cash.
You could have a page on your site that provides an e-book with this information, or a video explaining the buying or selling process. For motivated sellers who want to sell now, a telephone number or email capture form works well.
Of course you will want some text, graphics, and/or video that explains why the lead would want to do business with you.
Generally, the lead page will have certain elements:
-
A good headline that captures the lead’s attention and makes them want to learn more. Here’s a lead page for a whole course on writing headlines.
-
A short ‘Opt-In’ box that asks for the lead’s name and contact information. The shorter you can make it, the more leads you will generate.
-
Some wording explaining the benefits the lead will receive by giving you their contact information. Could be text, a video or an infographic.
-
Potentially some ‘social proof’ in the form of testimonials from people who have done business with you.
-
A Call to Action – ‘Call our phone number,’ ‘Fill out opt-in box,’ ‘Text ‘XXXXX’ to 1234 for a free estimate,’ etc.
The landing page should have a simple, clean design. It should funnel leads into contacting you.
Any good advertiser will say that you also need to test lots of different ads to see what works best. Once you figure out something that works, you run it more. Then you also test new ads against the one that works in order to keep improving. So you need some way to measure the results of your landing pages.
“I’m a Real Estate Investor, Not an Internet Marketer”
Yeah we agree, that’s why we found a website service that can make lead pages very simple for you. It’s called LeadPages.net. LeadPages is a full-service website that can do it all when it comes to landing pages:
LeadPages has all kinds of ready-made templates you can use. With the editing bar on the left hand side, you can drag and drop whatever features you would like to add to your landing page. There is no need for knowing how to code or design websites.
Some of the features you can add to your page include:
-
Call to action devices that make your prospect think your offer is only for a limited time, such as countdown timers
-
Pop-up opt-in forms called lead boxes to make it really obvious the lead should contact you
-
The ability to collect leads through text messaging, as well as emails
-
Integration with email list-building software like MailChimp and AWeber
-
Testing software that can tell you which lead page works best when testing two or more
-
Tracking software to tell you just how well your lead page is doing with visitors
LeadPages also has an extensive YouTube channel on how to use lead pages to maximize conversions for your website.
Pricing for LeadPages.net is based on a subscription model. The basic model is for single investors who don’t have a big business or are just starting out. Paid annually in one lump sum, it’s $300 (they want you to think of it as $25/month).
For that price, you can have unlimited landing pages, but it will not allow you to test the pages to see if they work. Upgrading to the $49/month plan allows you to test your landing pages.
Those are pretty small prices to pay if you consider that one lead could pay for several decades of lead pages, if it works out.
