If everything seems under control, you’re not moving fast enough…
…said someone really flippin’ smart.
I’m not suggesting, of course, that your business should be spiraling out of control – and you along with it.
I am, however, saying that there is one factor in business – especially in the business of wholesaling – that separates the successful people from the… well, not so successful ones.
And that factor is speed of implementation.
I Feel the Need, the Need for Speed”
That was just too easy. I couldn’t resist the Top Gun reference here. It’s just so fitting!
Hey Moguls, it’s Than Merrill, wholesaler, rehabber (and former pro football player) here today to tell you that acting with urgency is the key to real estate investment success. The faster you implement ideas, the sooner you start closing deals. It’s that simple.
Think about it. Life requires speed. In life, speed puts you in first place. If you don’t want to miss the big game, you get their first before tickets sell out. If you want to be the one to win over her heart, get there first. If you want to land that investment property that just came on the market, get their first.
See a pattern here or what?
The bottom line is… success in life – in general – loves speed.
Fake It ‘til You Make It
We’re taught that education and experience will take us far, and in large part, that’s the truth. But what about learning from experience as you go? If a six-figure deal comes your way, I guarantee you’ll figure it out come hell or high water, and I dare you to say otherwise!
When put to the test and faced with a challenge – especially one that can mean early retirement –you figure it out along the way, because you don’t have a choice. I know it seems counterintuitive at first, and I’m not minimizing the importance of a solid education and vast experience... I’m simply saying that winging it sometimes works best!
Those Who Don’t Put Off ‘til Tomorrow, Succeed Today
Any procrastinators in the house? I’d bet big money most of you just raised the roof. We all procrastinate at times, but the first step to changing that delayed behavior is recognizing it.
Procrastination kills enthusiasm. Period.
When we get too comfortable, we lose momentum and energy, and we let awesome opportunity and amazing ideas slip away or at best…. linger. Both are deadly scenarios when it comes to success in any business.
Action, the opposite of procrastination, gets your juices flowing, so to speak. And when you’re juices are flowing, you think creatively, and you feel energized and motivated. Simply put, you get stuff done.
Time Isn’t Always on Your Side
You can be the most productive person in the world, but truth is, we’ve only got so much time in a lifetime to accomplish our goals.
I challenge you to face your goals and actions with urgency. I’m not talking about stress here either. I’m talking about working with a purpose. Remember that time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking into the future (again, it was just so fitting, I couldn’t resist), so live each day and work each day like it’s your last.
Success loves speed and it loves action. Live by this concept, and you will be successful.
Fear Is Costly
Opportunities come your way, and you pass them by. It happens to all of us, all the time. But what if you could break that pattern and learn from my mistakes? I’ve been there, so heed my words, friends…
I had a chance to play football for my dream team, to make a big play, and I blew it. I didn’t deliver, and it cost me big time.
So remember this, when you’re considering opportunities, it’s about implementing systems and ideas. You can’t sit back and hope for a million bucks to land in your lap. Take advantage of the opportunities given to you and make the most of them.
Lemme Hear from You
Do you work with a sense of urgency? Tell me about it in the comments section below.
Wing it when you can! Sometimes learning as you go is the way to go.
Live and work with urgency.
Act now! Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
Turn opportunities into life-changing circumstances; don’t let them pass you by.
Prioritize your ideas and goals, and then start working on them immediately.
