How Changing My Mindset Decisively Changed My Life

I’ll be damned if that isn’t true. Way to speak the truth, Tony.

Hey Moguls, Franklin Cruz here, and I’m joining you today to talk about one powerful word - change.

It’s a scary word. I know this. But change could – in the most extreme of circumstances – save your life. At minimum, change can absolutely turn your world upside – for the better.

In with the Good, Out with the Bad

Life sometimes sucks. There’s no way around it. But what would life be like if we were never heartbroken, disappointed or even devastated? How we would experience the other side of the spectrum (love, content, comfort) without those things?

It’s cliché, but man is it true: What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.

And the challenge is powering through those tough times and walking away stronger for it. Here’s what happens in our darkest hours...

We dwell on the negative in our lives. We wallow in self-pity and obsess over the bad. We spend countless wasted hours building a case against someone or something, and we can’t let go of what we no longer have.

And it’s destructive.

Believe me, I’ve been there. I’ve seen the bottom of the rock, and it’s not pretty. In fact, it’s downright the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. And during my toughest time in my life (to date), I became the ugliest person I knew.

And I hated it. I hated being that person.

Stop the Pity Party Already

When you reach the point of self-loathing, and you can no longer stand yourself – you know it’s time for change. I mean, imagine how those around you feel…

negativeThey watch you, they listen to you, they put up with your incessant whining over the bad cards that life has dealt you. But guess what? You’re not alone. We all have our own personal battles to wage. So wake up and feel the winds of change.

Keep it Real

When negative thoughts and distorted thinking take over, you must overrule those thoughts.

Learn to focus on creating something and changing something in your life. When someone suggests that you try something new, do it! Nothing will change if you don’t MAKE a change, right?

After all, change starts with you. So break the bad habits, look in the mirror, be true to yourself and to those you love, and realize that you’ve actually created your own personal drama. By that, I mean that much of what we dwell on in negative situations is often fiction. We embellish life’s challenges and exaggerate the negative to justify our feelings of sadness and disappointment.

Much often times, it’s not real – at least, some of it isn’t.

So recognize that and stop creating false positives. Conquer your sadness or depression with positive change and a positive attitude. It takes some work on your part, but believe me, it’s sooo worth it.

You’ll probably find that other people in your life will want a piece of your action, because changing your life for the better is infectious! So be prepared to share your story and to help inspire change in others.

For me, changing my mindset, habits and goals actually saved my marriage. (I know, that’s BIG, right?) See, the possibilities are real. Remember that. You just have to be open to them.

Embrace opportunity, accept change, and above all… take action.
