We are so darned ‘on demand’ and so overstimulated by instant messages and the satisfaction of instant gratification that we have literally become terrible listeners. We’ve forgotten how to communicate, how to talk to one another and how to genuinely care about what others say.
Our social skills, sadly, are dying.
Some of us don’t even care that others are clearly distracted when we talk. We aren’t phased when people don’t look us in the eye as we speak. We don’t really even care if our friends, family and clients text, listen to voicemails or even send emails while we talk...
How is this possible? We all want to be heard, I mean, truly heard… don’t we?
But the good news is this: Once we know that we aren’t listening, once we recognize that we’ve got some work to do in the listening department, we can make a change.

Investor Entourage: Yep, That’s Me
Before we get to my video lesson, I want to remind you a little about me since I’m still newish to Mogul.
Well, I speak fluent Italian, I’m the father of five boys (I know, right?!), I’ve held every job under the sun from paperboy to altar boy, and I’m also a terminal cancer survivor.
In short, I’ve done and seen it all. I’ve been around the block a few times for sure, but my passion is real estate investing and helping other investors crush it in their markets. I’m the CEO and Founder of The Investor Entourage, and to date, I’ve worked on thousands of deals that span the entire nation, which is pretty cool, I must say. I enjoy speaking, appearing on radio shows, and I’m on a perpetual mission to teach Realtors and investors how to properly work and profit from short sales.
Oh, and did I mention I’m an awesome listener? It takes years of practice, and it’s a work in progress – always.

Listening Is Good Great

I can’t place enough emphasis on the power of good listening skills. The more others know you respect and truly listen to what they say, the more they will listen to YOU. And that, my friends, is an invaluable skill to have in the real estate investment world – and in life.

Listen, listen and listen some more, and watch how others – in turn – will listen to you.

Brian Meara, CEO and Founder of The Investor Entourage, got his start in real estate as an agent in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania back in 2007. He did this out of financial necessity, fresh off a divorce, as he found himself a single father of three, three year-olds…yes, triplet boys!
Two years later, after having worked with many investors on short sale flips, he decided to change hats and “become” the investor on the deals where he was previously the Realtor. In a very short amount of time he has launched himself to the very TOP of the industry. Interestingly enough, he never sees the houses that he buys, nor does he meet the sellers, he never talks to the banks, AND he lives in the mountains of Northern Italy one month every quarter or 25% of the year…..a completely “virtual” operation!!!
