Cloud or No Cloud?

fogEver heard of that horror movie titled The Fog?

“A supernaturally glowing fog appears, spreading over the sea and moving against the wind. Three local fishermen are out at sea when the fog covers their trawler. They see an old clipper ship pulling alongside their trawler. The mysterious fog contains the vengeful ghosts of the clipper ship's crew, who have come back on the hundredth anniversary of the shipwreck and the founding of the town. The three fishermen are slaughtered.”

Yikes!

Who knew something called The Fog could be so menacing and terrifying? It made me shutter with fear when I first thought of that mysterious Internet storage system called the cloud.

But I soon put my childish fears aside, in order to get up close and personal with the cloud – and so should you.  So grab the buttered popcorn, snow caps, and super sized soda, ‘cause here we go…

kidDon’t Fear the Cloud

You might want to avoid the fog at all costs, but the cloud? Eh. It ain’t so bad.

The “cloud” is just a fancy word for the online storage system that lets you store stuff on the Internet.

Think of the Internet as a huge fluffy cumulus cloud, if you will, storing an infinite amount of data. (I know, I know… You’re thoroughly impressed with my meteorological knowledge!) Well, that’s what the online Cloud does – and it makes your files accessible from multiple devices and programs.

The Cloud, in a nutshell, allows you to access music, photos, documents, and more, from wherever you are.

Should You Run Your Business from the Cloud?

Here are some key benefits of Cloud computing that can help you run your business more seamlessly and efficiently:

#1. Easy access from anywhere on the planet.

From Timbuktu to your local grocery store, you can access all your real estate investment contracts, important documents, property photos, and even your “jam” of the week.

question#2. “Everywhere. Automatically.”

That’s the boast of the Cloud people (they sound scary, but they’re not). When you purchase a song, you don’t have to download it over and over again to get your groove on to it on various devices, and you no longer have to stress that your latest investment contract doesn’t contain the latest and greatest edits.

The Cloud does the job for you.

Case in point; our friend and Real Estate Mogul consultant, Joe McCall has been using the Cloud to run his business. He was even able to flip houses while vacationing with his family in Prague! If that isn’t convenient, reliable access to all your Internet needs, I don’t know what is!

#3. Share What You Want, When You Want

Your entire team can operate from the same hub. You can share documents, updates on investment deals, even property photos. Too good to be true? Not so much with the Cloud.

Say you’re on vacation in Key West (wish I was) and you want to create a shared photo stream to document the progress of a rehab job. The Cloud lets you see snapshots and videos from each person on your team. With cloud computing, you can share what you want, when you want, and how you want it.

#4. Super Silly Simple Setup

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to get started with cloud computing. Whether you’re on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Android device, setup takes just moments – and, for new Apple devices, your setup assistant is built right in to help you get started.

happyPeace of Mind is Just a Cloud Away

Simply put, the Cloud acts as an automatic backup system.

What if you misplace your device? The Cloud will act as your own private investigator to help you find it and prevent anyone else from using it.

What about those important details and vital information on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – the stuff that keeps your business in business? The Cloud will back that thang up daily (thanks to Wi-Fi), and it will restore your data when necessary.

The Bottom Line

Being "in the Cloud", or storing your information with an online server, is powerful –period. Why? Because it releases the chains that may tie you to your stuffy office, and it allows you to work smarter and faster, with less hassles.

Conduct your business "on demand" from whatever computing device you happen to have handy, from wherever you happen to be.

Peace of mind and simple sharing. That’s the Cloud. What more do you need?
