Get a few too many emails every day? So do we. So does everyone. Including your buyers, sellers, realtors, money lenders, wholesalers, mom, dad, you name it.
Since you don’t make money in real estate without the help of other people, you want your emails to be read. That means your email should be different. How different?
How about a video email instead of a text email?
Not many people do that. I bet your competition doesn’t do it. And yet it is so easy. No I’m not talking about making a video, compiling it, loading it onto YouTube and sharing the link easy (NOT)… I’m talking about just recording yourself in an email, typing in an email (or multiple email) address in the ‘To’ area, and hitting send.
Then when the person receives it, all they have to do is hit ‘Play.’ Easy for you, super easy for them.
Expensive software? Nope. In fact, it’s a free service, with some limitations. You can also pay for premium service and remove some of those limitations. But the premium service is really not much more beneficial.
Introducing Eyejot
Wander over to Eyejot. You can sign up for free and set up an account that gives you 5 minutes of video per email. That should be plenty of time to get your message across.
There are premium levels of service for Eyejot (isn’t that true for everything on the web these days?). For $29.99/year, you can have 10 minutes of video per email and upload videos from your computer to your email. Eyejot will also take the ads out of your emails when you start paying for the service.
For the Pro plus service at $99.99/year, you can have 15 minutes of video per email, upload documents to your emails, add all your branding logos and receive alerts when your video images have been viewed.
Maybe you want to give out real estate tips to your wholesale buyers? Or want to send a message to your tenants. How about explaining to a seller why they need to lower the price on a property? Doing all of these through a video is much more personal than just sending over a text email. Text is what everyone else does.
Eyejot also has a mobile app that will allow you to take a video from your iPhone or iPod Touch and send it to someone in an email. (An Android version is coming soon.) They even have a ‘mobile app simulator’ to see how you can use Eyejot mobile before purchasing ($4.99) the app.
Having Eyejot on your phone means you can:
-
Create virtual tours for your buyer’s list
-
Show contractors rehab projects that you are looking for a bid on
-
Video rental property features that you can send to prospective tenants
-
Show sellers or banks parts of their properties that really need rehab
Another nice feature of Eyejot is the ability to make video business cards or ‘vcards’. You can email the vcard to new contacts and create a custom vcard for each event. In addition to the video on your vcard, you can also add:
-
Your Name and Job Description (“Real Estate Mogul” for example)
-
All your contact information
-
Social media contacts (your website, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.)
Make sure you check out this demonstration and explanation of the Eyejot vcard.
Creating Video Email
To start with the free version, just create an account and log in. After configuring the webcam and microphone, you should see a screen like this:
Just hit “Compose New Message.” A video screen should show up with the regular buttons (play, record, stop) that you have probably seen on other video programs. You can record yourself and play it back to make sure you’re happy with it. Or delete it if you don’t like it.
Once you’re happy, fill in email addresses of your recipients, add an optional message, and hit send.
That’s it.
Another nice feature is that if you put multiple email addresses in your message, Eyejot hides the addresses from all the other recipients. It makes it easier for you to send personal messages to large groups and not show your list who their competition is.
Here is a quick video showing how to compose a video email and send it.
