From Andrew “The Maestro” Massaro…
Back again for some more helpful REI info for all you Moguls! I’ve been hearing great feedback about some of previous lessons (thanks!) so make sure you go check out my other awesome lessons and these cool live training calls.
But let’s get to today’s goods… gonna keep it short, sweet and punchy, but full of power and truth, just like I like it. Starting with a breaking news alert…
This just in: The Cowardly Lion would be a TERRIBLE dealmaker. The poor guy lacked nerve, an attribute that's a must for success in real estate investment. It takes…
-
Nerve
-
Backbone
-
Fortitude
-
Fearlessness
-
Spunk
-
Guts
…to get up every day and work leads of both the human and real estate variety.
People try to avoid the 3 ugly truths… but to be truly successful, they have to be part of your story. They’re just some of the necessary, albeit uncool and unfun, steps on the ladder toward success. So instead of fighting it, embrace it.
Look, these 3 ugly truths that I’m gonna talk about can slow you down and even stop you, but you (and your nerve) are not going to let them. Conquering these stumbling blocks is truly a part of every success story. This means conquering them will be a part of YOUR success story. As the Cowardly Lion would say, "let me at 'em, let me at 'em…"
Ugly Truth 1 – You Will Make Mistakes
Of course you will. So be prepared – it's gonna happen to you. It's happens to everyone. So what?
Just move on. Learn from that nasty old buzzard and don't make that mistake again.
That narrows the field and you can move on to yet another mistake. So what? Learn from than nasty, old, vermin-infested pigeon and don't make that mistake again.
That narrows the field and yada, yada, yada...GET IT?
Ugly Truth 2 – Failure is Necessary
Let’s say you may make 20 successful deals and build up a nice cushion of funds. Then the next deal comes along and smacks you DOWN. You are just about back where you started. You're trounced, your ego is pummeled. This stuff happens. Every deal is different and every once in a while, one gets mean.
So what? Successful people keep going…
They jump back into their work with even more resolve than before. Read Donald Trump's The Art of the Comeback. Don't read Donald Trump's The Art of the Combover. Hey, kidding Donald's fair game, right? We should all be so successful.
Ugly Truth 3 – Criticism Will Come Your Way
You need thick skin in this business. Hey, you need thick skin in life. People out there will criticize you for the deals you close. "You're taking advantage of the market." Of course you are. That's what (any) business is all about.
You make an offer on a property that the owner considers low. The owner's next step should be to just decline or accept said offer. But no… this one wants you to listen to his blowback. So what? You don't have to.
It's business. That offer's not accepted. Hang up the phone and move on to the next deal.
Maestro’s Encore
Listen guys, here’s the deal…
Don’t get down on yourself when you find yourself in one of the situations. Like I said, these 3 ugly truths happen to every truly successful REIer. So when they do, learn from them and fail forward – perhaps you’ll finally consider yourself a success.
Holla at us
Have you experienced one of these 3 ugly truths? Are you a better REIer for it? I wanna hear from you in the comments section below.
Own the fact that this business takes nerve and that you have the nerve to get ‘er done.
Be prepared for mistakes and learn from them. Then move on.
Fail forward by learning from your mistake and getting back into the game after a disheartening failure. Get up, brush off the stink and move on.
Expect criticism in business and all facets of life. Don't take it to heart. Just move on.
