Potential Means Everything Is Possible

potentialHave you reached your true potential?

I know I haven’t. I’m always growing and learning. And I want to help the people around me—in business and in life—do the same.

But how do you know when you're pushing someone too far?

Hey Moguls, Chris Clothier here, and I’ve been writing lessons recently talking a lot about potential. You should check out my other two lessons about this topic here and here.

So, as I’ve previously mentioned, to me, potential means that if you think you can, you can. It’s all about having the right mindset.

Look, most of us have a tremendous amount of potential, we just don’t know it so most of it is unfulfilled…

But when some people are pushed the right way, they can rise up to the challenge. You need to be that person and you need to hire people on your team who are like that as well. Seize the opportunity.

Everything is possible.

See, I believe anything is possible… you just have to take action. We can all go as far as we want to go.

Now, sometimes I do think you can push somone too far—but it’s because not everyone realizes that we all have potential. There’s always opportunity.

The potential is there for ALL of us to do amazing things… and it helps if you find the right person to lead you… guide you… inspire you… encourage you… hold you accountable… set expectations… act on them …and be willing to change.

It’s amazing to see ordinary people doing extraordinary things—that's where the potential comes in—because we all have the capacity inside of us to do that. If we want to do it, are willing to work for it and make a few changes along the way.

Don’t do it alone.

Find a mentor—someone who will push you, lay out goals, stretch those goals… and likewise, be that person for your team.

I read a great book by Jesse Itzler called Living with a SEAL: 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet. In it, he talks about how we're capable of 40% more than what we probably believe we are.

40%! Whoa!

So, we need someone to push us, in:

  • business
  • family
  • all areas of life

Because we all have potential. We all need to dig in and find out what it is...

potentialAgain, it comes back to having the right mindset… because then anything is possible. We have unbelievable potential inside of us… we just have to do it.

I know, I know, sometimes easier said than done. Mind over matter… and sure, it takes a lot of mental development, but you’ve just got to be willing to change and willing to jump on potential opportunities.

Surround yourself with really good people who have even more potential than you do and who encourage you to act on your potential and draw it out.

And if you’re a leader in you business… it’s your duty to pull it out of your team members.

Here’s something really cool that I’ve noticed in my business… when I get people around me doing even better than when they started with my company—at a higher level of potential than they think they have—then I will have also pulled out a lot more of my own potential than I thought I had.

Getting potential out of people around me also makes me level up. Isn’t that amazing?!

So, look around…  find out where the untapped potential is in yourself and those around you… dig into it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work.

But definitely try to move yourself and your team members forward.

I’ll end with this powerful saying:

Leadership isn't about what you get done, but what you get done through other people.
