A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words (or $1,000s)

Ask any successful real estate agent how important good pictures are in selling real estate. They will generally tell you good photos are critical. For 2 reasons:

  1. Buyers look through lots of homes, and pictures give them a good idea of each very quickly.
  2. Listings without pictures, or only one or two pictures make buyers wonder what’s wrong with the home.

The pictures should be high quality and the house should look like it’s ready to move into. Buyers have zero imagination. You have to fill in the gaps. That means staging the home for sale. Hiring stagers and renting furniture can run several thousand dollars, depending on the size of the home.

Pictures are not the only part of selling the home though.

Your ad should have a well-written description explaining all the benefits for the buyer. For higher-end homes, it may be worthwhile to hire a copywriter who is skilled in writing sales letters. At the very least you might want to learn a few tricks of the copywriting trade yourself.
