“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”
~Bob Moawad, Chairman of Edge Learning Institute
Ever told yourself the wonderfully comforting thought that the economy is too tough to flip houses?
Makes you feel good, doesn’t it?
That’s what excuses do. They justify shortcomings.
Hey Moguls, Andrew “The Maestro” Massaro here, and my company and I recently coached students to 3 closings totaling almost $20,000 in profit. And, we have 3 more scheduled totaling $30,000. That’ll be $50,000 in profit in less than a month.
My point here is not to make you feel bad…
First, it’s to show you that excuses about the economy, or the housing market, or the political atmosphere, are completely ridiculous. As wholesalers, we can still make a lot of money in any market.
And second, to let you know that excuses, of any kind, are completely garbage. Kids can make excuses. Adults can’t.
“If you don’t want to do something, one excuse is as good as another.”
~ Yiddish Proverb
Excuses = Mediocrity
One student I coach was robbed… in the middle of the day!
He came home in the afternoon and found his house ransacked. They took his computer, which had all of his wholesaling information on it.
You know what?
He didn’t let this deter him, though. He pressed on.
My friend and millionaire, Kenny Rushing, flips on average about 10 houses a month. The guy personally makes over $100k a month, all from wholesaling.
You know what else?
Many years ago, Kenny spent 5 years in prison for selling drugs! Instead of wasting that time, he threw himself into books, educating himself about money and real estate.
Excuses = mediocrity.
Look, I know from experience...
I was the KING of excuses, for a long, long time. It took me awhile, but it finally sank in.
I create my success or failure. I am responsible for my life.
Blaming your failure on your mommy or daddy, or your boss, or the economy, or the president, or your friends, or your neighborhood, or your addictions… IS GARBAGE!
Don’t buy into it.
The more you excuse your failures, the more you will come to believe them. They are LIES from the enemy. Don’t let them become habitual.
“No one ever excused his way to success.”
~Dave Del Dotto, ‘80’s REI Infomercial Guru
How to Fix it
This will help you if you’re prone to making excuses…
Go out and pick up the book, Success is Not an Accident, by Tommy Newberry.
His program is called the 1% Club, and he charges $18,000 to personally coach you to success.
Why would somebody hire him for that?
Well, because even successful people want to be MORE successful. I want to make MORE money. I want to coach MORE students to GREATER levels of achievement.
And I want to do it the right way. And that’s what this guy is about.
Your success is up to you and you only.
I spend the majority of my day working on myself…
I read my positive affirmations every morning when I power up my laptop. Right after I write this lesson, I am going to spend the next 30 minutes meditating, with a 10-minute success visualization session built right into it. After, I will read a few chapters in books I’m currently in to. And after lunch, I’m going to the gym.
I do this every day!
It doesn’t matter how rich or successful you are, you can NEVER stop working on yourself. Always be growing and getting better.
Pay your dues and reap the reward.
I speak from experience: Your success is up to YOU.

Don’t be the King/Queen of Excuses - there are some things you simply don’t want to be King/Queen of.
Reject excuses, no matter how good they seem.
Always work on yourself to grow as a person and in your business.
