“I see and I forget. I hear and I remember.
I do and I understand.”
~Confucius
Come closer, because I want to tell you something very important. A little closer... that’s good.
I – Cris Chico – would like to tell you... that real estate courses...
DON’T WORK.
Can you hear that?
That’s the sound of dreams shattering into a million pieces.
Okay, well, maybe I’m being a bit dramatic.
But you might be wondering, “Why would Cris say something like that? He sells real estate training!”
Well, it’s happening. I’m saying it. This is my moment to tell you why you should not spend a single penny more on real estate courses or seminars.
I’m also going to reveal the 1 factor that is missing from 100% of REI courses and seminars (including my own!) that is the key to your success as an investor.
Now, when it comes to REI strategies and techniques, you may think that you’ve heard and seen it all…
But I can guarantee that you’ll never hear this advice from any other REI training program or guru.
The reason that successful investors have never told you about this “secret” is because – if they did – they wouldn’t be able to sell any of their courses.
Sounds juicy, right?
So, be prepared to be shocked...
Why Many Investors Struggle
First of all, if you want to succeed as an investor, you have to identify the real problem that’s keeping you from reaching your goals.
When it comes down to it, the one reason that you’re struggling to find deals may surprise you. This is the same reason why so many other investors struggle – and why I, personally, almost left the business.
The first lie that you cannot believe is this: real estate investing is an easy business.
This is an idea that those REI courses and seminars often like to promote: “In just a few hours, you’ll learn how to flip houses and make a ton of cash – in no time!”
But is this really true?
The answer is yes... and no.
Let me explain...
Imagine that I give you a step-by-step manual on how to fly an airplane. I give you 1 weekend to read the manual, learn as much as you can, and to ask questions. Then, on Monday, I put you in the cockpit of a Boeing 747 full of passengers and say, “Okay, fly this thing.”
You’d probably panic a little bit, wouldn’t you?
The reality of flying the plane would be much more overwhelming than the simple instructions you read in the manual.
This same concept applies to real estate investing. There are a lot of moving parts involved in this industry, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong.
Although you can do 95% of everything correctly, one single mistake could unravel your whole deal and destroy your profits.
That’s why any REI course or seminar that you pay for can’t really prepare you for what happens in the real world.
This is why so many people struggle with real estate! We’ve just never been told the reality of the business... until today.
The Solution
So, what exactly is the solution?
Let me tell you the secret that I stumbled upon – almost by accident – that turned my real estate career around, almost overnight.
Now – a bit of a warning – this answer is so simple, that you may think you’ve heard this before. But knowing and executing are two completely different things.
The secret I stumbled upon was called the “cone of learning.”
This theory says that, after 2 weeks, we remember:
-
10% of what we READ
-
20% of what we HEAR
-
30% of what we SEE
-
50% of what we SEE & HEAR
-
70% of what we SAY
-
90% of what we SAY & DO
So, what does this mean?
It means we have to move away from passive learning and start moving toward active learning.
Active learning means saying and doing what we want to understand. This is the single most important concept that turned my real estate business around.
Imagine another scenario: You’re attending a professional soccer game. While you’re watching from the stands, players’ efforts don’t seem very difficult. After all, they’re just running around the field, kicking a ball.
But... if you were to get down on the field and start playing with the pros – you would discover that the game is a lot more difficult than it appears.
And that’s my point... when it comes to real estate investing, you have to get on the field!
If you don’t “get on the field,” you won’t have the chance to make this business work for you.
No matter how many courses you’ve taken or seminars you’ve attended, you will not get the results you want until you start actively doing deals and learning from your own experience.
Now is the time to take action!
Here We Go
If you’re a beginner investor, what’s holding you back from actively pursuing and closing deals? Let me know in the comments section below.
Put the REI courses and seminars on hold – they have their value, but they can also distract you from actively achieving your goals
Start doing deals – you can’t succeed if you don’t try
Find a support team – this is NOT an easy business; find fellow investors who you can rely on for advice and encouragement
Stick with it – you’ll learn quickly from your own experiences; don’t give up!
