Success – it’s what most people consider the Holy Grail to happiness. Most people spend their lives asking:
-
What is success?
-
Where is success?
-
How do I find it?
Well, today we have lesson in the form of a video by the Governator – Arnold Schwarzenegger – that tackles these questions head on. I know, I know… It’s hard to listen to a motivational speech by Arnold without sliding in an “I’ll be back” or “Quick, to the chopper!” joke, but put on your serious hat on for a minute because it’s really something worth listening to. Plus, he’s so ripped, how can you say he doesn’t know a thing or two about achieving success?
Have a listen to good ol’ Arnold…

Good stuff, right?
And, because we here at Mogul are awesome, here’s a full transcription of Arnold’s video…
Now of course, people ask me all the time… they say to me, "What is the secret to success?”
The first rule is to trust yourself. What is the most important is that you have to dig deep down, dig deep down and ask yourselves "Who do YOU want to be?" Not what, but WHO, and I'm talking about not who your parents and teachers want you to be, but YOU. What makes YOU happy? No matter how crazy it may sound to other people…
Rule number two is to break the rules. We have so many rules in life about everything. I said break the rules, not the law, but break the rules. It is impossible to be a maverick or an original if you’re too well behaved and don’t break the rules. You have to think outside the box. After all, what is the point of being on this earth if all you want to do is be liked by everyone and avoid trouble? Which brings me to rule #3…
Don’t be afraid to fail. Anything I've ever attempted, I was always willing to fail. You can’t be scared to make decisions. Anything I’ve ever tried I was never scared to fail. Don’t have fear of failure or you will never push yourself. You can push yourself because you believe in your vision and you know it’s the right thing to do and success will come, so don't be afraid to fail. Which brings me to rule number four which is…
Don't listen to the naysayers who say that it’s "never been done before.” As a matter of fact, I love it when someone says that because then when I do it that means that I'm the first one that has done it. Pay no attention to the people that say "It can't be done." which brings me to the most important rule of all…
Work your butt off. I always believe in "leaving no stone unturned.” Muhammad Ali, one of my great heroes, had a great line in the 70's when he was asked "How many sit-ups do you do?" He said, "I don't count my sit-ups, I only start counting when it starts hurting, when I feel pain. That's when I start counting because that’s when it's really counts. That’s what makes you a champion. That's the way it is to everything. No pain, no gain.
And, let me tell you, it is important to have fun in life of course. But when you’re out there, partying, horsing around, someone out there at the same time is working hard. Someone out there is getting smarter and winning. Just remember that. But if you want to win, there’s absolutely no way around it. Hard, hard work. None of my rules, by the way, of success, work unless you do. I've always figured out that there are 24 hours a day, you sleep six hours and if 18 hours left ... I know there's some of you out there announces, "Wait a minute, I sleep 8 hours or 9 hours", well then, just sleep fast, that’s what I would recommend. That takes me to rule number six which is a very important rule…
Give back. Whatever path you choose to take in your lives, you must always find time to give something back, something back to your community, give something to your state or the economy. You will get more satisfaction than anything else you have ever done.
