“The Smell of Cat Urine Is the Smell of… MONEY!”

catThat’s what several real estate investors have told me. Have you ever smelled cat urine? Pretty nasty stuff. The smell is like concentrated ammonia, because that is basically what it is.

And it’s really tough to get the smell out. The smell can stick around for years. People who have it in their house are not going to be happy. Neither are potential buyers for their homes.

Just think of yourself as a potential retail buyer... When people have open houses to sell their house, they will often light fragrant candles or bake cookies in the oven. Smell is such a powerful sense for humans, and nice smells really help sell a house.

On the flip side, bad smells can really make it hard to sell a house. Smells like cat urine and cigarette smoke will turn buyers off very quickly. Sellers will find they have to reduce their price in order to get the house sold.

Many stinky houses sit on the market for a long time.

And they sit… and they sit. And the seller gets…
