Are you sick and tired of working around the clock and never having any personal time?
JP Moses here, and believe it or not… the best way to succeed in your business is to let others work for you. I really mean it—stop working so hard yourself and let someone else help.
But, this only works if you learn to do a different kind of hard work: the hard work of good leadership.
1 Is the Loneliest Number
I was one of those guys who would scratch and claw his way into any kind of deal to make it happen.
I remember talking with a friend about it, actually. He could relate. He told me his marriage was suffering because his job was 24/7 and that’s all he did. One night, he looked at his wife, who he never spent any quality time with, and decided he just couldn’t do it anymore.
What did he do? Same thing I did when I had the realization enough was enough…
I decided I wanted – and needed – to be a leader and surround myself with awesome people. Today, I’ve achieved that vision; I work with a rockstar team that closes deals regularly.
They inspire me, and we have been able to do things together that I never could have done on my own. Plus, we all have time for our personal lives.
“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself.
When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.”
~Jack Welch
It Only Works if You Actually Lead
The trait of a good leader is to hire the best person he can find for the job and not interrupt that person while they do it. That was the hardest thing I had to learn when I hired a team. I was looking over their shoulders all the time…
I’m not perfect, but I can tell you as soon as I let go and let them make mistakes, my team started to grow and flourish. Now they’re doing things I never thought possible.
If you want to be a leader – not just a boss – you need to shift your mindset. Your primary goal can’t be about making the most money possible. It must be to challenge and inspire your team to accomplish more than they could ever imagine.
When you have that kind of mindset, not only do you develop a loyal and hardworking team, you also see real results.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.”
~John Quincy Adams
Everyone’s Happier—Even You—When it’s Not about You
Even though the money is great, if you’re doing it alone it’s going to get old – real fast.
Ask yourself what you really want...
-
Do you want to be a slave to your business?
-
Do you want to be just an employer?
-
Or do you want to be a leader?
Be the leader who surrounds himself with really good people and stands on the shoulders of giants.
“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things.
He is the one that gets people to do the greatest things.”
~Ronald Reagan
How Do You Lead?
I’d love to hear your struggles and successes. Leave a comment below.
1. Commit to leading, not just bossing.
2. Inspire your team to be creative and work hard.
3. Free up your team and help them learn and grow through their mistakes.
