Thomas Jefferson said it best, “Why put off ‘till tomorrow what you can do today?”
Do you live by this philosophy? How do you go about life, and in what way do you run your real estate investment business?
Do you attack first and fast then ask questions later? Do you make a move and risk getting slapped on the hand every now and then? Do you throw spaghetti to the wall and see if it sticks then clean up the mess?
Or do you wait…
…and wait…
…and wait?
Do you think twice, twice? Are you the type of person who says “it’s not the right time” – all the time?
Maybe you you’re the kind of person who sees Proceed with Caution signs everywhere before you see opportunities. You make calculated decisions and precise plans before you act, always.
Meanwhile, others around you are doing deals and making money. (Ever think of it that way?)
So what are they doing differently than you? Are they smarter than you? Naaah. I wouldn’t say “smarter”. However, what I would say (and will say in today’s video) is that they are “risk takers” and “go getters” who do business with (i) a fire under their butts and (ii) a willingness to take chances.
You can and should learn from them.
A Little Action Goes a Long Way
Action. Not fortitude or determination or learning. Action. Ghandi said, “action expresses priorities,” similar to the old saying, action speaks louder than words…
…and it’s so true.
Inaction expresses fear.
We all feel fear, naturally. But the key success in business is being able to turn that fear into progress, to take it and move forward (there’s that expression again) with the steps you must take in order to (i) grow your business, (ii) make more money and (iii) succeed.
Conquer fear by doing.
Is it always an easy thing to do? Heck-to-the-no! Turning your fear into actions isn’t easy, but once you understand that reward can result from risk, you will be better equipped to take those leaps of faith that can lead to success beyond your imagination.
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear; action breeds confidence and courage.” ~ Dale Carnegie
A Little More Conversation, A Little More Action
Contrary to what Elvis said, I want you to have a little more conversation with yourself. Look in the mirror (figuratively or literally) right here, right now, and ask yourself these questions:
-
What priorities are my actions expressing in my biz?
-
Have I been procrastinating on things that could change my business for the better?
-
Do I use words like “later”, “tomorrow” and “it’s not the right time” often in reference to my business?
-
Does my fear of making mistakes paralyze me from moving forward and taking risks?
Be honest with yourself, and use these questions to help guide you to action.
Think about that one thing you keep putting off in business. What’s that one thing you want to accomplish so badly, but something – or someone (eh-hem) – keeps holding you back?
Speak the truth to yourself, and admit your fear…
Now, stop thinking…
…and take the plunge.
Be in the Here & Now, Now
No more excuses.
No more procrastination.
No more waiting until the “right time” comes along, because guess what? It won’t.
There will always be a need for more time, more money – and there will always be someone telling you to wait, to proceed with caution, to think before you act. I’m challenging you to ignore the doubt and transform your fear into progress.
Remember, a good and violently executed plan today is better than a perfect plan executed next week.
So go do that thing you need to do today! Before the next sunrise, get it done.
I believe in you, and you need to believe in you. Make it happen. Take some chances, act now, and watch everything fall into place.
“Action is the foundational key to all success.” ~ Pablo Picasso
