Hey Moguls, Happy Monday to you and hope you are doing awesome. Steven Howell here with another lesson where we get to work on your inner game.
Having a strong mental inner game also known as your mindset is absolutely critical to the success - or lack thereof - in your real estate business.
The people who think...."Oh, another motivational fluffy fluff lesson" are the people who most likely need work in this area. But even if you have a strong mindset - it’s still like brushing your teeth and taking a shower. You don’t just do it here and there. (At least let’s hope not :) You do it daily.)
I remember someone very wise once told me that some of the things are simple to do - they are also simple NOT to do.
It's the champions who get this type of mindset stuff nailed down, and then go out and begin doing a bunch of deals. Make sure you are one of those people.
Obvious caveat… of course you can't just snap your fingers and have a positive mindset overnight, but it can happen much faster than you think when you take it seriously and actively work on it daily.
Until you commit to changing your thinking and actively practicing, likely nothing will happen and you will continue to think this is mindset stuff is all fluff.

Alright so today I want to share with you one muscle that you must learn how train and eventually FLEX!
Now of course it is not the only muscle, but it’s an important one. One of the most important ones, actually. So let's dive in shall we...
I need to be…
The muscle that you absolutely have to begin training immediately is called: Resourcefulness.
Every successful investor that I know of has developed the skill and strength of resourcefulness.
Now what does resourcefulness mean?
It’s definition is: The ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties.
In layman’s terms, it means figuring out that darn problem. Come hell or high water, we’ve got to make something happen. We have to find a way. We can’t just let the obstacle stop us.
Listen, your only job as a real estate investor, as an entrepreneur - is to FIGURE IT OUT. No matter what the issue is, you must find a way to figure out this stuff:

Not sure what to say on your Craigslist ad...

Not sure how to handle an objection from a buyer or seller...
-
Not sure what to say to the title/closing company…
-
Nervous about how to fill out a contract…
-
Not sure what marketing materials to use for your business…
-
Not sure how to put up a website or design business cards…
Whatever comes your way, find a way to figure it out - how to get through it, over it, under it.
This is why having a mentor is so utterly powerful. You have someone in your corner that you can bounce ideas off of. You can seek counsel and wisdom when you hit roadblocks and walls in your business. It doesn’t mean the mentor is going to do the work for you or magically make you succeed, but they can help you through the dozens of problems that come your way.
But remember, even with a mentor there are a ton of things that you will still have to figure out and work through on your own!
Here’s how to be resourceful
Whether you have a mentor or not, here are a handful of other things I recommend you do to be resourceful:

Google the answer.

YouTube the answer.

Ask 3 trusted people for help.

Sleep on it.

Write out all your possible solutions, and then begin DOING them one by one. You will gain experience and wisdom, even if you fail. (This is one of the quickest ways to success and results - by learning to constantly fail quickly… failure is a great teacher).

Take a night or two to mull it over.

Pray about it if you're so inclined to you.

Ask yourself "How can I do this?" "Who do I know who can help me?!" "What can I do?!"

Ask it 100 times. The answer WILL come.
Do these handful of things on a consistent basis for each problem you face in your life and business and watch what happens! Your life will transform. You will have to pinch yourself to make sure it’s really your life when you see what begins to happen.

Work through the issues and problems that you are facing. Don't avoid them.
It’s a simple saying, but it’s true: Where there is a will, there is a way.
Find a way. Figure it out.
There’s always a way
Now I know this may sound harsh or come as kind of a shock, but it’s 100% true...
No matter how smart you are, no matter what course you own or program you are going through, there is always going to be 100, heck, 1,000 little or big scenarios that will arise.
And what happens to most people when they finally hit an obstacle big enough or confusing enough - they simply just give up. Or they stop taking action or try a couple solutions to no avail, then they give up.
Let me ask you a really tough question. Be honest with yourself.
Is that you?
Have you stopped? Have you given up?
The sooner that you can learn this skill of becoming resourceful, of figuring it out... the sooner you will unlock the secret. The secret that there will always be 1,000 different situations and potential problems. And that at the same time, there is always a solution.
I urge you to work on your muscle of resourcefulness. Start to train it. Start to flex it, every day in your life and business. Watch what happens!
The cool part is this doesn’t apply to just real estate. It applies to EVERYTHING!
Let me wrap up with some wisdom I once heard that resonated with me deeply. It’s sort of a secret...
Want to know the secret?
Well, actually there are 2 secrets.
Secret #1: There are no secrets - create what you want. Where there is a will, there is a way. Get moving.
Secret #2: Hardly anyone knows what the heck they are really doing in this game we call life. (This is especially true when it comes to fear and competition.) People are simply trying the very best they can at this game of life just like you are. They are just as scared and unsure of themselves as you are.
